A 12 year old Portlaoise girl with cerebral palsy, who sued the HSE and a consultant obstetrician has obtained an interim settlement to cover certain once-off categories and a 2 year care package totalling €2.6 million
Augustus Cullen Law have recently concluded a High Court Action arising out of the death of a baby girl, Molly, in the course of her delivery in the Rotunda Hospital Dublin on the 16th October 2008. Augustus Cullen Law were instructed by Molly’s parents, Jane Farren and Feidhlimidh Wrafter on foot of concerns which they had regarding the management of Molly’s delivery.

In autumn, this year, Advocates of the Court of Justice of the European Union issued two Opinions dealing with the issue of leave entitlements for women who have children via a surrogacy arrangement. The women in both cases argued that they had equal rights, under the EU Pregnant Workers Directive (1992), to women who physically gave birth to their children.
