Augustus Cullen Law has secured a settlement for the parents of a baby who died shortly after his birth at Portlaoise Hospital. It was alleged that there was a failure to monitor the foetal heart at key times during the labour and there was a failure to act promptly when there were signs of foetal distress and to perform an emergency Caesarean section.
This case was highlighted in the recent Primetime Investigates programme which highlighted a number of cases of stillbirths and neonatal deaths at Portlaoise Hospital.
